Port Hole/lights, ventilation for rain, solution

A boat is built like a pyramid. When the water runs down any port that is open the water comes in, just like when it rains the water will come the cabin. Solution: Get some isinglass,(flexible and clear), you know the plastic glass used for windows no canvas. For each port hole, take a piece of isinglass and cut it to fit around the top of the port and down to the bottom of each side. The isinglass should extend out about 6 to 8 inches from the cabin. So when the rain is falling on the deck it won't splash into the port. To fasten: use 4 or 6 screws with finish washers to hold it in place, then use clear silicone around top edge so the water won't get under. It will just run off.You will love this idea. Also the flexible glass won't hurt if you brush against it with your foot or leg. 1,the water will not come in and 2,in the summer when it rains it will help keep the cabin cool.It works, so why close the boat up when your inside staying out of the rain it gets hot.So now you can enjoy the coolness that rain brings. It can get hot in the summer, even in the caribbean when your in a cove anchored.See next page. Happy Sailing.
